For Stipe Miocic, the journey was not just about becoming UFC heavyweight champion.

Miocic, who finished Fabricio Werdum at UFC 198 recently, plans on doing more moving forward as the titleholder.

“I’m not done yet,” he said, during a recent interview on UFC Tonight. “It’s so surreal, but I want to keep this going for a long time.”

Likely up first for the champion will be a title defense against Alistair Overeem. The former Strikeforce champion has won four in a row, including wins over Junior dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski.

“He’s awesome,” Miocic said. “Whoever they put in front of me, I’ll beat them and keep that belt.”

As for the time being, Miocic continues to embrace the support he’s received from friends, family and Cleveland.

“Honestly, I’ve never cried that much. Intense it was amazing having so much support. It was overwhelming,” he said. “(My mother is) such an amazing woman. I wouldn’t be the man that I am today without her. She put so much effort into me. I want to make her proud. When I saw her, we just cried.”
