When Chris Weidman was training for Anderson Silva, Stephen Thompson was by his side. He’s not sure if Weidman will ask for his help in the rematch, but doesn’t see why not based on the end product.
“I saw him this past weekend and we keep in touch,” said Thompson to MMA Fighting. “We’ll have to see if he wants me back. He’s a phenomenal striker and they don’t know that. They see the wrestling and jiu-jitsu. We worked on Anderson’s head movement.”
In the meantime, Thompson improved to 8-1 with a second round knockout of Chris Clements. He’s looking to work his way back up the ladder and get a rematch with Matt Brown, but knows it’s a distance away.
Clements has only one win in three UFC outings. His sole win was a decision in April 2012.
They were on the prelims of UFC 165, which came from the Air Canada Centre. It was this past Saturday and results can be found here.
