UFC heavyweight Soa Palelei has been banned from visiting sick children at an Australian hospital despite raising over $43,000.
According to a report by CNN, Palelei was told he could not visit the hospital because of his label as a “cage” fighter. In many parts of Australia, MMA is banned in a cage but allowed in a ring.
Palelei was trying to visit the Princess Margaret Hospital in Western Australia. He posted a message about the planned visit on Twitter.
“I am about to embark on a 24-hour challenge solely to raise funds that will directly benefit those children who I was not allowed to meet,” Palelei said.
The fighter, along with retired rugby player Matt Fuller, will be doing a charity challenge where they will workout 24 hours non-stop on an arm grinder.
Palelei took the news as best he could, posting messages on social media such as “Don’t find fault, find a remedy.”
