All five of Shawn Jordan’s Octagon victories have been finishes, including his first round stoppage win over Jared Cannonier Saturday night at UFC 182.
Behind one thunderous right hand, Jordan secured his second straight win. A flurry of lefts on the ground resulted in the first defeat for Cannonier.
“We practiced that a little bit,” Jordan said. “The check-kick with a hook behind it. He is a good kid, was hard to time and scrappy.”
Jordan (17-6) closed out 2014 with a third round TKO of Jack May, snapping a two-fight losing skid. He is now 5-3 in eight Octagon appearances. “Savage” was a former standout fullback at LSU before transitioning to MMA.
“All we can do is improve,” he said. “If you don’t you get left behind. You have to learn new skills and keep pushing forward.”
