According to the UFC, Scotland’s Octagon debut this coming July is a sell-out – just hours into the tickets going on sale.
UFC Fight Night 72 takes place July 18 from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow. Michael Bisping meets Thales Leites in the main event, as the main card is scheduled to air on FOX Sports 1.
“Scottish fans have overwhelmed us with their enthusiasm and support for this event and the announced bouts on the card,” UFC EMEA SVP and GM David Allen said in a press releaase. “There is a great deal of hype around this event, and we can’t wait to get to Glasgow in July.
“With a sellout as quick as this, the only question remaining is, ‘Are Scottish fans going to be louder and more passionate than the Irish fans, who set the decibel record in the 3Arena at the Dublin event last year?’”
Along with Bisping-Leites, Ross Pearson takes on Evan Dunham, Joseph Duffy meets Ivan Jorge and Joanne Calderwood faces Bec Rawlings.
The SSE Hydro seats 13,000 and is split into three levels of seating. It was opened in 2013 and has previously held the MTV Europe Music Awards, games of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and other musical acts.
