Saul Canelo Alvarez earned a decision victory on all three scorecards Saturday night to defeat Miguel Cotto and become the WBC, lineal and The Ring middleweight champion.
Alvarez earned scores of 117-111, 119-109 and 118-100.
With the win, Alvarez improved to 46-1-1 in his career and has won his last four since a 2013 loss to Floyd Mayweather. Cotto fell to 40-5 and had his three-fight win streak snapped.
