With wins over top UFC women bantamweights such as Liz Carmouche, Alexis Davis and Miesha Tate, tonight’s Sarah Kaufman places her name close towards the top of the division. A win over Jessica Eye and Kaufman wouldn’t mind a meeting with the injured Cat Zingano.
“I could see with a good win [over Eye], depending on when Cat Zingano is back, giving me a fight with Cat, or giving me a title shot right away,” said Kaufman to MMA Fighting. “Honestly, I feel like Cat Zingano would be a pretty interesting fight for that next shot at the title.”
Zingano won her spot to coach on The Ultimate Fighter, but an ACL tear in her knee derailed those plans. Her return has been slowed as the other leg required surgery.
Kaufman is 16-2 as she makes her UFC debut. She comes out of appearances from Strikeforce and Invicta FC. Eye is a former Bellator competitor who is 10-1.
The women are on the prelims of UFC 166. It’s today, October 19, and comes from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.
