Sam Sicilia Finds Fighting In Brazil Easier The Second Time Around

Sam Sicilia has represented the American side on two UFC cards out of Brazil. The Bazillion fans are often hostile towards Washington’s Sicilia, who just beat one of their own at UFC Fight Night 32.

On the recent Brazil card, Sicilia made quick work of Godofredo Castro to go 2-2 for the UFC.

“The first time I came here was tough and this time it wasn’t as bad,” said Sicilia to MMA Fighting. “I got used to it, so that did help me out a lot. I just got early to Brazil to get used to the environment. They kind of boo you, but once the fight starts going they just cheer for a good fight.”

In Sicilia’s first visit to Brazil, Rony Mariano Bezerra stopped him within two rounds. It was Sicilia’s featherweight debut.

Castro is 1-3 for the UFC and might be on his way out the door. He sits on a pair of first round defeats.

UFC Fight Night 32 was November 9 and came from the Goiania Arena.
