Ryan LaFlare controlled the tempo and beat on Santiago Ponzinibbio for three rounds, earning a decision victory Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 32.
LaFlare improved to a perfect 9-0 in his MMA career, including two wins inside the Octagon. Prior to signing with the UFC, he had finished all seven of his opponents.
“I am happy with the win,” LaFlare said. “Santiago is extremely tough. He hit me a couple times and I didn’t know where I was.”
LaFlare, though, used his wrestling to stay ahead of the fighter from Argentina. Ponzinibbio was a finalist on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, but didn’t get to compete due to a hand injury.
“(Like I said) I’m happy with the win, but I got tired,” LaFlare admitted. “I took some shots I didn’t need to take.”
