Royce Gracie has witnessed his family take some major defeats as of late and knows the problem. The UFC hall of famer wants jiu-jitsu to be their focus.
“Jiu-jitsu is enough,” said Gracie to MMA Fighting. “The [new] guys [from the Gracie] family want to complement their game, like if jiu-jitsu was incomplete. I guess they forgot a little about history. I believe in pure jiu-jitsu. That’s what I’ve done in the past. You have to go back to your roots and train Gracie jiu-jitsu.”
In July, Roger Gracie was released by the UFC after his lone defeat to Tim Kennedy. At the latest WSOF event, Rolles Gracie was knocked out and Gregor Gracie didn’t have the win according to the judges.
When Royce was around, jiu-jitsu landed him several wins in the first UFC cards.
