After being turned-downed by several MMA promotions, former UFC fighter Rousimar Palhares will be competing at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo in a little over two weeks. At UFC Fight Night 29 earlier in the month, Palhares refused to let go of his heel hook submission after Mike Pierce tapped-out and the referee stepped in. It was the second time this happened with Palhares and the promotion decided to let him go.
In his first action since the incident, Palhares takes on Dean Lister in a 20 minute submission only, no-gi match with no points.
Dean Lister is a three time ADCC champion and spent almost his entire MMA career for KOTC, PRIDE and the UFC. After posting a 4-2 record for the UFC, Lister was released in 2008 and he’s only made two MMA appearances since that time.
The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo runs November 9-10 from Long Beach, CA.
