Rousimar Palhares watched his fight with Mike Pierce and now sees he held the heel hook too long. It cost Palhares is UFC job, as it was the second time this occurred.
The now ex-UFC fighter apologized for his actions to Piece and the UFC bosses. Palhares calls his aggressive style of fighting as a possible reason for the repeated error.
“I think it has a lot to do with my style,” said Palhares on The MMA Hour. “I’m really aggressive when I go after the submissions and there’s been times also when I’ve not held on and people have gotten out of it, and I end up losing the fight. So, it’s kind of the way I fight, but I’ve been getting better, and working a lot on this. But it’s just the way I fight, it’s my style.”
Pierce suffered a sprained MCL and torn ankle tendons at UFC Fight Night 29 since the submission was released late.
Finding an MMA promotion for Palhares has become difficult because of his previous actions. Bellator and the World Series of Fighting passed on the welterweight. He returns at the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo in November.
