In his last performance, Rory MacDonald didn’t do enough to impress the UFC officials to earn a welterweight title shot. He plans to change their mind when he meets Robbie Lawler at UFC 167.
“If I continue to have exciting fights and dominant fights and winning, I think I’m very close [to a title shot],” said MacDonald to MMA Junkie. “It really depends on how the fights go.”
At 15-1, MacDonald has only been defeated by Carlos Condit. This year, he took a decision over Jake Ellenberger in a contest considered on the dull side.
Lawler came in from Strikeforce and has a pair of wins. He’s 21-9 and has his first winning streak going since 2007.
UFC 167 is November 16 and serves as the promotion’s 20th anniversary show. It’s from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
