Former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza underwent successful surgery in Brazil recently for an injury sustained during his loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC on FOX 24.
“Alongside with Dr. Rickson, I decided to undergo surgery to heal this injury once and for all,” Souza stated in a release to MMA Fighting. “I’m feeling relieved. I’m already recovering well, and I’ll move one step at a time towards my comeback to training and to the Octagon. I’ll be back soon, stronger and even hungrier to fight., hungrier to win.”
Souza suffered the pectoral rupture during the fight in Kansas City. He was 7-1 with the UFC before the loss to Whittaker, and is now 24-5 overall in his career.
