The next move for Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza all depends on the outcome of UFC 168’s main event, which has Chris Weidman defending his newly won middleweight belt against former champ Anderson Silva. Since Souza trains with Silva at X-Gym, he has no interest in fighting a teammate.
If Silva does regain the title, than Souza will be looking to challenge light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.
“If Anderson wins, we’ll go after Jon Jones’ belt,” said Souza to Sherdog. “Let us prove to the world that we have character; we don’t fight against each other. This is the story of the X-Gym. Jacare is also ready to fight in the division above.”
Souza came to the UFC from Strikeforce. For the UFC this year, he’s defeated Chris Camozzi and Yushin Okami in the opening round.
He’s familiar with gold, having held the middleweight titles for Strikeforce and DREAM. There’s no return information regarding Souza.
