Rolles Gracie was looking for his biggest win in North America at World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 5. In the end, Derrick Mehmen connected with a right hand which sent a wobbly Gracie to the canvas for the knockout finish.
“I guess I’m back to square one,” said Gracie post-fight. “But I feel fine. I took a hard punch, but I’m fine. I’m ready to start training again and kick some butt.”
His WSOF debut was pushed to September when Gracie pulled out of the June card with an injury. He’s 8-2 with the other loss coming from Joey Beltran in his only UFC appearance. All eight of his wins are by submission with seven not seeing past the opening round.
Mehmen is now 16-5 and has won four in a row. It was also his WSOF debut.
The heavyweights fought on the main card of WSOF 5. It was yesterday, September 14, and came from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
