If all goes as planned – which hardly ever happens in MMA – Robbie Lawler will defend his welterweight title against Tyron Woodley at UFC 201.
The bout would serve as the main event for the July 30 card, which will put a cap on an incredible month for the promotion.
Lawler (27-10) has won his last five fights, including title defenses vs. Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald. He has also bested Johny Hendricks, Matt Brown and Jake Ellenberger since his last loss.
Woodley (15-3) is 4-1 over his last five, dropping only a decision to MacDonald. He was slated for a No. 1 contender match with Hendricks, but the former champion was removed due to weight-cutting issues.
The UFC has not visited Atlanta since UFC 145 in 2012, when Jon Jones bested Rashad Evans to defend the light heavyweight title.
