Ricardo Lamas came into Saturday’s UFC 180 main card fight vs. Dennis Bermudez as the less-talked-about fighter.

He left right back in contention in the UFC’s featherweight division.

Lamas snapped the seven-fight win streak of Bermudez and earned his second straight victory since a loss earlier this year to Jose Aldo for the title. He is now 15-3 overall and 6-1 inside the Octagon.

“He deserved the recognition. He was on the seven-fight win streak. I know he’s a tough fighter and will come back tougher,” said Lamas, on the FOX Sports post-fight show. “I wanted to give the crowd a finish and exciting fight. That submission, I’ve been pulling off in the gym a lot. When he rolled to his back, which guys do in the gym, it only makes it tighter.”

Lamas now holds wins over the likes of Bermudez, Hacran Dias, Erik Koch, Hatsu Hioki and Cub Swanson, including finishes vs. Bermudez, Koch and Swanson.
