If you are like me, you enjoy getting an early jump on Christmas shopping to avoid the over-packed stores, long lines and annoying last-minute shoppers.

I recently was given a chance to review “MMA Now!,” a book published by Firefly Books LTD.

The paperback edition is 144 pages and boasts 125 full-color photographs, glossary and index. All in all, it would make a perfect gift for that MMA fan looking to enhance their library.

Written by Brian Sobie and Adam Elliott Segal, the two have brought together the past with the present, featuring Ronda Rousey, Conor McGregor, Royce Gracie, Matt Hughes, Forrest Griffin, BJ Penn, Chael Sonnen, Rory MacDonald and countless others. Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and Georges St-Pierre appear on the cover.

There are 40 profiles of the best of the best in terms of fighters, along with chapters devoted to the history of MMA, explaining what it is, winning fights and making money, the growth of the sport and a list of UFC champions.

Sobie is an award-winning TV producer, director and write who has been creating sports programming for over two decades. Among his creations is “Full Contact Fighter,” the first weekly MMA show in North America. Segal has had work published in Sportsnet, enRoute, Chatelaine, Reader’s Digest and The Vancouver Province.

The book is available for purchase on Amazon.
