Following several interesting comments made regarding the promotion, and his disappearance they claim, Melvin Guillard has been removed from Friday’s World Series of Fighting 20 card.
According to a report by MMAjunkie.com, Guillard will be replaced by Lucas Montoya in a lightweight contest on NBC Sports Network against Ozzy Dugulubgov.
Guillard stated during an interview with Submission Radio that he was not happy with his current contract with WSOF and planned on walking away.
“Obviously, we would have liked to have seen Melvin compete at this weekend’s event,” WSOF President Ray Sefo said. “But it’s Monday, four days away from the fight, and we don’t have his medicals, nor have we heard from him. He has not responded to any of requests from our PR team to help promote the show, and we alerted his management team that if we did not receive his medicals by 10 a.m. today, we would have no choice but to pull him from the card, and unfortunately, that’s what we’ve been forced to do.”
Guillard lost to Justin Gaethje in a planned lightweight title fight that was changed to a non-title bout after he failed to make weight.
