Report: UFC Fighter Involved In Standoff At Florida Home

According to a report by NBC 6 South Florida, authorities surrounded the home of an armed suspect late Thursday night after an incident at a jiu-jitsu school earlier in the day.

The site reported that a man threatened people at the school before locking himself in his home, located at 2041 Coral Heights Blvd. in Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office stated.

According to the site FindTheData, that address is listed under the name Thiago Silva. Confirmation that it was Silva’s home was made by NBC reporter Adam Kuperstein.

Kuperstein added that police have not named the suspect, while another report by a different reporter at the network stated that the altercation started at the Pablo Popovitch Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu School.

Police have made an arrest in the standoff, according to Kuperstein, who said the suspect was armed. No one was injured at the BJJ school.

Silva is scheduled to face Ovince St. Preux at March’s UFC 171 event from Dallas.
