According to “UFC Tonight,” the planned April 25 event for Montreal could receive T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao for the bantamweight title.
UFC 186 is set for that weekend, and Dillashaw and Barao are expected to collide with Dominick Cruz out of the picture due to a knee injury.
Dillashaw (11-2) won the title last May when he stunned Barao, handing the Brazilian his first Octagon defeat. He defended the title vs. Joe Soto in August after Barao suffered a fall while attempting to cut weight.
Barao (33-2) fought Mitch Gagnon in December, earning a submission victory for his fourth straight win via finish.
Also, a rumored light heavyweight contest between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Fabio Maldonado is in the works for the event. Jackson returned to the UFC after a stint with Bellator.
The 36-year-old Jackson (35-11) has won his last three, including a May victory over Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal. He lost three in a row when he was last in the UFC.
Maldonado (22-7) is 4-1 in his last five since stepping in for Jackson in 2012 to face Glover Teixeira.
