According to a report by the Maui Watch out of Hawaii, former UFC champion BJ Penn was arrested over the weekend.
Citing sources, the site stated that Penn was arrested while staying at the Four Seasons Maui by police following an altercation with a friend. “The Prodigy” was inebriated when officers arrived and had “severely assaulted the individual and left him fleeing back to the hotel room.”
We will continue to update the situation as news become known.
Penn, who turned 36 years old last month, is a native of Hawaii and currently resides there. He is one of just two multi-division UFC champions, having won both the lightweight and welterweight titles. He also remains tied for the all-time lightweight title defenses mark with Benson Henderson.
The last time Penn fought was in July, when he lost via third round TKO to Frankie Edgar. His last win came in 2010 when he knocked out Matt Hughes in a battle of former champions.
