According to a report by MMAFighting.com, former heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko will meet Jaideep Singh at the New Year’s Eve card in Japan.
An official announcement is set for Thursday during a press conference that FightLine will stream.
Emelianenko (34-4) announced plans to return to MMA during a recent Spike TV Bellator event, joining forces with former Pride leader Nobuyuki Sakakibara’s new promotion.
Singh (40-10) is a veteran of kickboxing, but has competed just once in MMA. He earned a victory over Alireza Tavak at Super Fight League 19 in 2013.
The report also states that plans are in place for three straight events at the end of the year for the promotion, with Shinya Aoki facing Kazushi Sakuraba in another main event. It is believed that two of the three cards will air locally on Fuji TV in Japan, with the Emelianenko card airing via tape delay in the U.S. on Spike TV.
