According to a report by Combat Press, Fedor Emelianenko has signed with the UFC and could debut as soon as this November.
The site, sourcing a person close to the situation, says that Emelianenko has officially signed with the promotion and an announcement is expected soon. UFC 193 would be a possible debut card for “The Last Emperor,” with Australian Mark Hunt welcoming him.
Hunt is currently set to face Antonio Silva in the co-main event to Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm for the female bantamweight title.
The card takes place in Melbourne and and Etihad Stadium, as the UFC attempts to break their attendance record inside the stadium.
Emelianenko last fought in 2012 but has made it known he wants to return, with the UFC being one of the few promotions he has yet to compete for. Bellator MMA, which is currently ran by former Strikeforce boss Scott Coker, was also in the running for his services.
During his prime, the Russian fought the likes of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Mark Coleman, Tim Sylvia and Andrei Arlovski, going years without a loss. However, he was stuck in a three-fight losing skid with Strikeforce that included a submission defeat to Fabricio Werdum – the man who holds the UFC heavyweight title at this time.
