According to a report by MMA Fighting, reigning UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has suffered an injury and will not face Anthony Johnson at UFC 206 next month.
The bout was set to serve as the main event to the December 10 card from the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. No official announcement has been made by the UFC.
Cormier (18-1) successfully won the vacant title last year with a submission win over Johnson. Since that fight, “Rumble” has not lost, pushing his overall record to 22-5.
The two exchanged a message on social media, as Johnson stated “I wish nothing but the best for DC and I hope you have a full recovery.” Cormier responded, posting “I left a message for you on (your) phone. I apologize. We will get to rock and roll.”
UFC 206 currently features Anthony Pettis vs. Max Holloway and Donald Cerrone vs. Matt Brown.
