Reports are coming in that former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and fellow top contender Yoel Romero will square off in one of the main card bouts for UFC 205 later this year.
The event marks the debut of the Octagon in New York City at Madison Square Garden. It is expected that at least one title fight will headline the card.
Weidman has not fought since losing the belt to Luke Rockhold earlier this year, while Romero is coming off a brief suspension after testing positive for banned substance. He fought the results and had the suspension shortened due to it being a contaminated sample.
Ibrahim Kawa, who is part of Romero’s management team, sent out a message on social media recently indicating that the fighter is expected to announce a “huge” match next.
