According to ESPN, Benson Henderson’s first fight in Bellator will be for the title.
Henderson will challenge welterweight champion Andrey Koreshkov this April for the belt at Bellator 153.
Set for the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut, the Spike TV main card takes place April 22.
Henderson (23-5) signed with Bellator on Monday, ending his 14-fight run with the UFC. That included a pair of victories over Frankie Edgar – the first of which earned him the lightweight title. He is also a former WEC lightweight champion.
Koreshkov (18-1) won the title last July with a decision over Douglas Lima. The 25-year-old Russian has not fought since.
