According to a report on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday evening, heavyweight contenders Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir could square off at UFC 191.
The fight has yet to be finalized, but would be added to the September 5 card from Las Vegas that features a main event between flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson.
Arlovski (24-10-1) is a former UFC heavyweight champion who has found a second wind since moving over to the training of Greg Jackson in New Mexico. The 36-year-old has won five in a row, including finishes of Travis Browne and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in his last two fights.
Some even had Arlovski pegged as the first challenger to Fabricio Werdum’s title. The two met back in 2007, with “The Pit Bull” claiming a decision victory.
Mir (18-9) is coming off first round finishes of Todd Duffee and Silva after losing four in a row between 2012-14. Prior to that losing skid, the former heavyweight titleholder had won three straight and seven of nine.
