Rashad Evans will give middleweight another try, as the former UFC light heavyweight champion takes on Sam Alvey at UFC Fight Night 114.
Set for August 5 from Mexico City, the card features Sergio Pettis vs. Brandon Moreno in a key flyweight battle.
Evans (19-6-1), who will turn 38 shortly before the fight, has dropped three in a row. That includes a March split decision defeat to Daniel Kelly at 185 pounds. Overall, “Suga” is just 2-5 since besting current Bellator champion Phil Davis in 2012.
Alvey (30-9) fights for the third time this year and what will be five times in 12 months. He had his four-fight win streak snapped this past April by Thales Leites, losing a decision.
Below is the current fight card:
Flyweight: Sergio Pettis vs. Brandon Moreno
Bantamweight: Jose Alberto Quinonez vs. Diego Rivas
Flyweight: Dustin Ortiz vs. Hector Sandoval
Featherweight: Martin Bravo vs. Chris Gruetzemacher
Middleweight: Sam Alvey vs. Rashad Evans
