Chael Sonnen has too much on his plate according to future opponent Rashad Evans and it might show at UFC 167. While this Saturday Sonnen returns inside the Octagon, he hasn’t been hard to miss. He can be spotted on the set of UFC Tonight and is usually covering cards in some facet.
“I definitely don’t think he’s really focused on where he needs to be, and that’s coming from my point of view,” said Evans on The MMA Hour. “So for him to still be doing it, it doesn’t seem like he’s putting that kind of focus that you need to be training at a high level. Maybe something to stay in shape and casually train, but to train for a fight?”
Since coming to light heavyweight, Sonnen is 1-1. After dropping a title fight to Jon Jones, he submitted Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in one round.
Evans ended his two fight losing skid with a split-decision over Dan Henderson. The former champion is 20-3 and has been with the UFC since 2005.
They’re the co-main event of UFC 167. It’s November 16 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
