Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans was excited to be fighting in Madison Square Garden this Saturday night against Tim Kennedy at UFC 205.
But due to an “irregular finding” with his medical report, “Suga” was forced to be removed from the lineup, scratching his middleweight debut.
“I’m disappointed,” Evans told MMAFighting. “I’m healthy. I don’t want anyone worrying about me. I’m fine, physically speaking. Never felt better. It’s just the commission and their rules. I guess they have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to this.”
Evans said he turned over an MRI in October that the New York Athletic Commission found to have irregular findings. They asked for further tests, which Evans says he passed.
While the 37-year-old former Ultimate Fighter winner isn’t sure when he’ll get another chance to compete, he is hopeful for the Kennedy fight to come to fruition.
