The Chael Sonnen vs. Rashad Evans fight at UFC 167 is pretty even on the betting odds. Heavyweight Daniel Cormier said if Evans wants the win, he needs to engage wherever Sonnen puts the fight.
“It’s Rashad’s fight to lose,” said Cormier on UFC Tonight. “If Rashad goes out there and fights his fight, he should be good. He can’t be cautious. He can wrestle with Chael and can standup with Chael.”
Evans broke his two fight losing skid by getting the split-decision against Dan Henderson. The former light heavyweight champion hopes a win over Sonnen puts him back in the title picture. He lost a title match to Jon Jones in April 2012.
Sonnen left the middleweight division after a decade for a light heavyweight title shot. He got destroyed by Jones and regrouped by submitting Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the closing minute of the first round.
The co-main event of UFC 167 is Evans-Sonnen and it’s this Saturday, November 16. It comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Cormier is undefeated and 2-0 in the UFC as a heavyweight. He plans to return as light heavyweight and has been cutting weight the past year.
