Rashad Evans returned from a two-year layoff this month, falling to Ryan Bader via decision.
Now, “Suga” is looking to face another top light heavyweight contender in Alexander Gustafsson.
It was reported on “UFC Tonight” Wednesday that Evans (19-4-1) is interested in a bout with Gustafsson, who recently challenged Daniel Cormier for the title.
Evans, who held the belt himself before losing to Lyoto Machida in 2009, has gone just 2-3 over his last five. All three losses, though, have been via decision.
Gustafsson (16-4) is on a two-fight losing streak, having suffered a split decision loss to Cormier at UFC 192 after a TKO defeat vs. Anthony Johnson in January.
“The Mauler” also challenged for the belt in 2013, losing to Jon Jones via decision.
