Raquel Pennington learned under the watchful eye of Miesha Tate.
Saturday night at UFC 205, the student became the teacher, as Pennington dominated Tate to kickoff UFC 205 and score her fourth consecutive victory.
Pennington (9-5) was a member of Team Tate on TUF 18. Since joining the active UFC roster, her only two defeats have come via split decision to former UFC champion Holly Holm and Jessica Andrade. She topped both Elizabeth Phillips and Bethe Correia earlier this year.
“It has been an honor to fight here and fight Miesha,” Pennington said. “I have a toolbox full of tools that the world has yet to see.”
For Tate, the loss was her second straight after dropping the title in July to Amanda Nunes.
