Raphael Assuncao Throws His Name Into Hat To Face Renan Barao Next

Raphael Assuncao has no problem with former opponent T.J. Dillashaw getting a crack at the UFC bantamweight title – just not before does.

Urijah Faber stumped for his Team Alpha Male teammate after falling to Renan Barao Saturday night for the belt.

Assuncao, scheduled to fight later this month at UFC 170 against Francisco Rivera, defeated Dillashaw last year via split decision in Brazil.

“I agree with Faber that TJ Dillashaw should get the next shot at the bantamweight title AFTER ME friend!! :))” he posted on Twitter.

Assuncao (21-4) has won five straight since a 2011 loss to Erik Koch. That includes finishes over Vaughan Lee and Issei Tamura.

He later added that, “I guess when u have easy access to be in front of the cameras u can say whatever you may wish to say at any given chance. Not my style!”
