Pat Curran has been one of the top draws for Bellator, but has no problem with the direction the promotion is going for their first pay-per-view. Bellator 106 is headlined with former UFC fighters Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Tito Ortiz.
“They can be the main event,” said Curran to MMA Junkie. “They’ve been in the sport a lot longer than I have and they’re two huge names in the sport. I’m a fan, I grew up watching them and even though I started with Bellator and Bellator made me who I am, it really doesn’t affect me at all. I’m happy to go in there and fight.”
For Bellator, Curran is 9-1 and holds two featherweight title defenses. He takes on Daniel Straus, who he finished once under the XFC banner.
Straus earned his title shot earlier in the year, but a broken hand a drug arrest led to the delay. He’ll enter the cage with five straight wins.
