ONE FC CEO Victor Cui isn’t shocked the UFC is looking to expand in the Asian market. He welcomes the largest MMA promotion out there and thinks they’re good for business.
“They’ve had an office for six years in Beijing and have been able to hold one or two events,” said Cui to Sherdog. “It’s not a surprise they want to expand here and we’ve always known that. The more people coming in and contributing, the bigger the pie is going to be. It’s exciting news that they’re here.”
The UFC has hosted a few cards out of Japan the last two years and debuted in China last year. They make their debut in Singapore for UFC Fight Night 34. It’s January 4 from the Marina Bay Sands with no fights announced.
ONE FC returns to Singapore on October 18. They then host ONE FC 12 on November 15 from Malaysia. Nothing else has been announced past next month’s card.
