Rousimar Palhares is one of the few fighters who has been blacklisted by the UFC. The promotion banned him after releasing a submission late, which was the second time he’s done that under the UFC name.
Team Nogueira has come to the aid of Palhares, claiming he’s not the monster everyone portrays him as.
“I can say that in our gym, ‘Toquinho’ has never hurt anyone,” said Rodrigo Nogueira to MMA Fighting. “He is a good person, excellent company and a man with a great character. I believe that he has never thought of doing anything evil to any opponent because this isn’t his conduct.”
The other twin, Rogerio Nogueira, had similar remarks.
“As an athlete he’s a phenom, and as a person he’s loved by everyone, especially for his simplicity,” said Rogerio. “Anyone who knows the history of his life will be enchanted with his modesty and dedication to the sport.”
In the end, Palhares has no job with the UFC. When it comes to local MMA promotions, Palhares hasn’t heard anything positive since the UFC Fight Night 29 incident.
