Nik Lentz Happy With Lightweight As His New Home

Nik Lentz had to be helped to the scale prior to his last weigh-in vs. Charles Oliveira.

With that on his mind, Lentz decided it was time to move up to lightweight, and he made an impact there Saturday at UFC on FOX 17, earning a split decision over fellow veteran Danny Castillo.

Lentz (26-7-2) earned his first win since early in 2014, improving to 5-2 over his last seven overall.

“I am a new man,” he said. “I still have to fix my body, as I still have issues with it (from the tough weight cuts.”

The Minnesota native also admitted that a knee injury suffered in the first round hampered his attack, but he was still able to constantly keep Castillo retreating.

“I went to punch and he ducked,” Lentz said. “My knee hyper-extended backwards.”

For now, while he attempts to get himself fully accustomed to the 155-pound division, Lentz had words of warning for the rest of the class.

“I am at ’55,” he said. “I guarantee that anyone who steps in the cage with me will remember it for the rest of their lives.”

Castillo (17-1) suffered his fourth straight loss, with three of them being via split decision.
