According to a report on “UFC Tonight,” Nick Diaz and the Nevada Athletic Commission have agreed to a settlement that would allow the fighter to return to action next year.
Diaz was suspended five years and fined $165,000 after a third failed drug test for marijuana earlier this year after meeting Anderson Silva. That suspension could be cut to 18 months – dating back to the January fight – and the fine reduced to $100,000.
The report stated that an announcement is expected shortly regarding the matter, which would allow Diaz to compete again next summer.
Diaz, a former Strikeforce champion and UFC title contender, is 0-2 with a no-contest in his last three fights – which span four years. He is 26-9 overall.
