Round 4: A loud "Machida" chant broke out. This is both men's first-ever fourth round in the UFC. Shogun landed a body kick, and Machida responded with a high kick. Machida slipped and Shogun quickly capitalized, and tried to take Machida to the ground, but both men were quickly back up. Shogun continued to work away at Machida's legs. Machida is looking a little tired at this point. I have this round for Shogun as well, which means Machida will have to finish Shogun in the next round to retain the title. Round 5: Shogun continued to work over the legs of Machida with his vicious leg and body kicks. Shogun managed to peg Machida with a couple of shots that rocked the champion. Chants of "Shogun" start to fill the arena. Shogun landed a big right hand as the round came to a close. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Shogun.
Winner via unanimous decision and STILL UFC Light Heavyweight champion (all judges score it 48-47): Lyoto Machida
The crowd booes the decision. After the fight, the crowd booed Machida during his interview. Joe Rogan asked Lyoto Machida if he agreed with the decision, and Machida said all three referees saw it that way. Machida finished by saying he is open for a rematch with Shogun anytime.
Rogan talked to Shogun, who was cheered. Rogan asked him if he should have gotten the decision. Shogun said he trained hard for the fight and he feels that he won the fight, but there's nothing he can do.
