Matt Hughes Says His Next Fight Will Be In April 2010
By Richa Mitchell | December 02, 2009
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes recently signed a four-fight contract with the UFC in September. Hughes announced on his personal website that his next fight, the first fight of his new deal, will take place on April 10, 2010.“I have a possible date for my next fight, they tell me that it is April 10th. I’ll tell you later who and where when I find out for sure if it is confirmed,” he wrote.
Dennis Hallman, who boasts two wins over Hughes, has been talked about as a potential opponent, however nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
“I lost to him, but I've gone on and done bigger and better things since then," Hughes said of a potential bout with Hallman last month. "It just seems like I was the only guy he could ever beat. He just hasn't done much except for beating Matt Hughes twice."
Hughes' return to the octagon comes after an 11-month absence. The Illinois native last fought Matt Serra at UFC 98, where he defeated his rival via unanimous decision.
