Strikeforce's Gegard Mousasi Staying At Light Heavyweight
By Tim Ngo | December 01, 2009
Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi has bounced around multiple weight classes through the years, however he appears content on dominating the 205-pound class from here on out.“I won’t make it anymore. It’s not healthy for me, so 185 (pounds) I will never do [again],” Mousasi told MMAWeekly.com.
Mousasi believes that between Strikeforce, M-1 Global and Dream, there will be plenty of formidable light heavyweight competition for him to test his skills against.
“With Dream in cooperation with M-1 Global and Strikeforce next year I heard they have 20 shows, so eventually they will build up contenders and I’m pretty sure I will have tough opponents in the future,” Mousasi added. “Maybe for an experiment go for heavyweight, but that’s also too soon. I’m just going to stick with 205, there’s a lot of good fighters coming now, a lot of shows.”
Mousasi has been perfect through his last 14 bouts, and was last seen defeating Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou at "Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers" this past November.
