Dan Hardy Says Georges St-Pierre Is A Great Athlete, But Not A Fighter
Dan Hardy Says Georges St-Pierre Is A Great Athlete, But Not A Fighter At the beginning of September, Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann were slated to square off at UFC 103 to determine the number one contender for Georges St. Pierre's welterweight title. Less then three months later both men find themselves out of contention, while Georges St. Pierre will be defending his UFC welterweight title against Dan Hardy next March at UFC 111. Hardy is coming off of a major upset victory over Mike Swick at UFC 105 earlier this month, earning him the shot at St. Pierre.

"Dan [Hardy] already proved that he deserves a shot at the title," said St-Pierre, who has been out of action with a groin injury that he suffered in his successful title defense against Thiago Alves last July at UFC 100.

Hardy finds himself facing arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter in the sport after spending just a little over a year in the organization. Hardy told The Telegraph that he is excited for the fight, and is ready to take St-Pierre's belt.

“I’d fight him [GSP] in Canada, Las Vegas, England, on the moon, or in the car park,” Hardy stated. “I want that belt.

"He’s a great athlete very good at winning and putting together a gameplan; but he is not a fighter like me," Hardy continued. "And I’m going to get in there and my intention is to hurt him, put a beating on him. In a 25 minute fight, it’s a long time to keep my hands off his chin."

UFC 111 is expected to take place on March 13, 2010 from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
