Dan Hardy Moves To Top Of Welterweight Line
Dan Hardy Moves To Top Of Welterweight Line It wasn’t easy, but Dan Hardy walked away victorious after battling 15 hard-fought minutes against the crafty Mike Swick at UFC 105: Couture vs. Vera. With the win, Hardy all but assures himself as the #1 contender to Georges St-Pierre’s welterweight title.

It was obvious that Hardy was the guy with the bigger punch on Saturday night, however he made the fight harder than it should’ve been.

At least once in each of the three rounds, Swick found himself in a world of hurt due to a lethal strike by Hardy, but instead of going in for the kill, Chuck Liddell-style, Hardy would rush in to clinch his dazed opponent, giving him ample time to gather his senses.

With the exception of a couple of combinations and a failed submission attempt, Swick was never able to get off against the hometown favorite, well actually hometown 2.5-to-1 underdog.

All of a sudden the mohawk toting Englishman finds himself at the top of the welterweight ladder with a pending title shot against the world’s best 170-punder.

St-Pierre spoke to Joe Rogan after Hardy’s win saying that he’s excited to face Hardy and that he earned the chance to fight for the strap following his performance at UFC 105.

Is it too much too soon for Hardy, or can he find a way to knock off one of the top 3 pound-for-pound fighters on the planet?
