The preliminary numbers for this weekend’s “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” event on CBS aren’t bad, but they didn’t catch “EliteXC: Primetime,” which featured street fighter Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson. The ratings are preliminary and don’t include anything that happened after 11PM, which happens to be right when the main event started.
Clearly, Strikeforce’s ratings will get a boost when the 11PM time slot numbers come back, which should be later today.
Below is a comparison of how Kimbo Slice’s CBS show fared against Fedor’s Strikeforce debut:
EliteXC: Primetime Ratings
9 p.m. – Viewers: 3.38m 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.66m 10 p.m. – Viewers: 4.68m 10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 5.53m 11 p.m. – Viewers: 5.84m 11:30 p.m. – Viewers: 6.51m
Strikeforce: Fedor Vs Rogers Preliminary Ratings
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 3.50 million 9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 3.53 million 10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 4.12 million 10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 4.01 million * Fedor vs. Rogers main event began after 11 p.m.
As you can see in the “EliteXC: Primetime” ratings, 11:30PM was the show’s highest mark which was when Kimbo took the stage against James Thompson. Expect a similar spike when the final “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” ratings come in.
All in all, it wasn’t a bad evening for Strikeforce or CBS, as they did beat ABC’s College Football ratings on Saturday night.
