'UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun' Results

PRELIMINARY CARD

Stefan Struve defeated Chase Gormley via submission (triangle choke) at 4:04 of Round 1.

Kyle Kingsbury defeated Razak Al-Hassan via split decision (scores of 29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

Jorge Rivera defeated Rob Kimmons via TKO (punches) at 1:53 of Round 3.

Chael Sonnen defeated Yushin Okami via unanimous decision (scores of 30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Pat Barry defeated Antoni Hardonk via TKO (strikes) at 2:30 of Round 2.

Ryan Bader defeated Eric Schafer via unanimous decision (scores of 30-27, 29-26,30-27).

MAIN CARD

Mike Goldberg opened the show saying that the Staples Center was sold out for tonight's event. That's an impressive feat, as there were lots of tickets available as of last week.

Anthony Johnson vs. Yoshiyuki Yoshida

Round 1: Johnson, who comes into the bout six pounds overweight, had a notable size advantage. Johnson started picking away at Yoshida early, and Johnson nailed Yoshida with a big overhand right which knocked out Yoshida.

Winner via TKO at 0:41 of Round 1: Anthony Johnson

After the bout, Johnson apologized to the fans and the UFC for coming in overweight. He said he came in heavy due to a knee injury, and apologized once again.

Anthony Kiedes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers was shown at cageside.

The text voting for the night didn't even bother asking who will win the main event, but rather if the fight will end via KO, submission or decision. It's reminding me of GSP - Serra 1, and we all know how that went.

Joe Stevenson vs. Spencer Fisher

Round 1: Stevenson landed a leg kick early. They traded a couple of shots, which cut Fisher open above the eye. Stevenson pressed Fisher against the cage and tried to take him down, but Fisher was able to successfully stuff it. Stevenson kept Fisher against the cage, before Herb Dean separated them. The blood from the cut over Fisher's eye is getting into his eye, and is visibly bothering him. Stevenson was able to get Fisher to the ground on his back and tried to sync the hooks in, but Fisher was able to block it. Stevenson was able to land several hard shots as the round came to a close. FightLine.com scores the round 10-9 for Stevenson.

Round 2: Stevenson was able to get a takedown early in the round. Stevenson attempted a leg lock, and then tried to get into full mount, but Fisher was able to block him and stay in half guard. Stevenson dropped several short elbows to re-open Fisher's cut. Stevenson got side control, trapped Fisher's arm and then started dropping un-answered short elbows until Fisher tapped.
