Last night, UFC welterweight Jon Fitch confirmed via his Twitter that his UFC 106 bout against Ricardo Almeida was canceled due to an injury his opponent recently sustained. Today, president Dana White announced that Fitch will now be giving Thiago Alves a mulligan at UFC 107 instead.
White made the announcement at today’s UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun pre-fight press conference at the Wilshire Grand in Los Angeles, CA.
Fitch delivered a sick up-kick to Alves’s grill that earned him a TKO win in their first meeting at UFC Fight Night 5 back in June 2006.
UFC 107 will be taking place inside the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee on December 12th.
