Japan is notorious for putting on spectacular New Year’s Eve MMA action, and from the looks of things, this year will be no different. Today, Fighting and Entertainment Group president Sadaharu Tanigawa and Dream event producer Keiichi Sasahara released an early roster for their upcoming “DYNAMITE!! 2009” extravaganza.
Just like their spectacular New Year’s Eve show last year, the fight card will feature a star-studded cast of MMA and K-1 kickboxing contestants.
It is believed that the event will be headlined by a lightweight title scrap between champion Shinya Aoki and Tatsuya Kawajiri. In addition, Ikuhisa Minowa will be taking on Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the finals of the “Super Hulk” tournament.
However, since MMA got top billing last year, it’s possible that Dream could have two-time K-1 World MAX champion Masato “Masato” Kobayashi meet this year’s MAX champion in the night’s main event.
The show will be jumping off inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan on December 31st and will be made available in North America on HDNet.
No confirmation from the network on whether it will be broadcast live or not, but it would be hard to imagine a show this big not streaming in real time.
